Promise Chain
2017 Casted glass, pen and paper, cups,
plaster, alginate, water, lots of people
Dimension varies
Making a promise is making a connection with people. Pinky promise is a reflection of a childhood memory to make a connection with people. The casted glass pinkies visualises the shared time and a connection of people.
Historically, glass has been a medium that was only accessible to highly skilled craftsmen. Here in this performance, I wanted people to feel free to access to glass making process through the interaction with the artist and towards making of the art piece.
With this work, I have created an opportunity for everyone to be able to connect with people who were sharing the same moment at the same place through making their pinky finger mould. The visitors can also participate with writing their promise on a piece of paper and stick it to the wall.
